CKI Named an Index Stock


16 July, 1997 -- Hong Kong

HSI Services Limited announced the following changes to the constituent stocks of the Hang Seng Index (HSI) and Hang Seng MidCap 50 Index (HSMCI), to take effect from 31 July 1997:

(1) Stocks to be added to HSI: Stocks to be removed from HSI:
Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Ltd. Johnson Electric Holdings Ltd.
China Resources Enterprise, Ltd. Oriental Press Group Ltd.
(2) Stocks to be added to HSMCI: Stocks to be removed from HSMCI:
Goldlion Holdings Ltd. China Resources Enterprise, Ltd.
Henderson China Holdings Ltd. Pudong Development Holdings Ltd.
Johnson Electric Holdings Ltd. Sing Tao Holdings Ltd.
Oriental Press Group Ltd. Stelux Holdings International Ltd.

Subsequent to the above changes, the market capitalization of the Hang Seng Index and Hang Seng MidCap 50 Index constituents is expected to account for about 70 per cent. and 9 per cent. respectively of the total market capitalization of the companies listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

The stocks removed from the Hang Seng Index will also be removed from the Hang Seng London Reference Index (HSLRI). The number of HSLRI constituents after the adjustment will be 27.

The Hang Seng Index, Hang Seng China Enterprises Index, Hang Seng MidCap 50 Index, Hang Seng London Reference Index, Hang Seng Asia Index and Hang Seng China-Affiliated Corporations Index are all managed and compiled by HSI Services Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hang Seng Bank.
